In the thrilling final game of the 2024 Men’s College World Series, the Tennessee Volunteers emerged victorious over Texas A&M, claiming their first national title in program history. The Vols won Game 3 by a score of 6-5, after falling behind 9-5 in Game 1 and winning Game 2 with a score of 4-1.
Tennessee’s standout player in the series was Dylan Dreiling, who earned the Most Outstanding Player award for his exceptional performance in Game 3. He also became the first player to hit a home run in all three games of the finals.
The Vols built an impressive lead early on in Game 3, but Texas A&M came back with a vengeance, scoring four runs in the final two innings to narrow the gap to just one run. In a tense finale, Tennessee’s closer Aaron Combs stepped up and struck out Ted Burton to secure the national title for the Volunteers. This victory marked Tennessee’s 60th win of the season and completed an incredible run to championship glory.
