Tennessee Advances to College World Series Championship Series for the First Time in Modern Era

National Championship on the Line: Tennessee and Texas A&M Face Off in College World Series Finals

In a historic moment, Tennessee has advanced to the College World Series championship series for the first time in modern era. The last time the Volunteers made it to the title series was in 1951, before NCAA adopted preliminary rounds of tournament.

Tennessee’s impressive journey from regional rounds to become one of last two teams standing will culminate in an all-SEC final against Texas A&M. Aggies have come out of Bracket 2 after defeating Florida with a perfect 3-0 record.

The Volunteers secured their spot in the championship series by delivering a dominating performance against Florida State. Pitcher Zander Sechrist allowed only two late runs in his stellar outing, while holding Florida State scoreless until giving up a couple of solo home runs. Blake Burke contributed to victory with his 3-for-5 performance and solo home run in ninth inning.

The College World Series finals between Tennessee and Texas A&M will be best-of-three series held at Omaha starting on Saturday, followed by games on Sunday and potentially Monday if needed. This marks third time in last four seasons that two SEC teams will face off in the finals. Tennessee previously defeated Texas A&M 7-4 in SEC Tournament.

Fans can catch the action starting with Game one on Saturday at 7:30 p.m ET on ESPN, followed by Game two on Sunday at 2 p.m ET on ABC. If a third game is necessary, it will take place on Monday at 7 p.m ET on ESPN for winner-take-all showdown
