In Bratislava, Slovakia, Team USA held a 60-minute practice session at Ondrej Nepala Arena today at 2 p.m. local time. Head coach John Hynes, from the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, was in charge of the team’s operations, with assistant coaches Jack Capuano managing the penalty kill and Derek Lalonde overseeing power play efforts. The U.S. coaching staff also included assistant coach Ty Hennes, goaltending coach Alex Westlund, and video coach Mike King.
Three players from Team USA were part of the 2019 U.S. Men’s National Team that competed in the IIHF Men’s World Championship held in Slovakia. Zach Werenski, Johnny Gaudreau, and Luke Kunin were all on the team that played its preliminary round games in Kosice before moving to Ondrej Nepala Arena for the quarterfinal match against Russia, which they lost 4-3. John Hynes served as an assistant coach for that team.
