Taylor Fritz Secures Third Eastbourne International Title with a Dominant Performance Over Max Purcell

Fritz repels Purcell to claim third Eastbourne championship

As the top seed, Taylor Fritz had previously won the Eastbourne International in 2019 and 2022. This year, he secured his third title with a 6-3 6-4 victory over surprise finalist Max Purcell of Australia.

Fritz had never advanced beyond the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam, but he managed to navigate through the event without dropping a set. In the final, he served nine aces and displayed superior power against Purcell of Australia, who had fought his way through two qualifying rounds to reach the main draw.

Reflecting on his performance, Fritz commented that this had been his best serving on grass so far. Ranked 13th in the world, he expressed his confidence playing at Eastbourne and shared that he had a good feeling coming into the week. With his victory, Fritz earned his eighth ATP Tour title and his second of 2024, just before the start of Wimbledon on Monday. It was a great achievement for Fritz, setting a positive tone for his upcoming matches at the prestigious tournament.
