According to a report, Taskin was unable to be reached by the team management as he was asleep in his room and missed the team bus before the game. A team official had to stay back at the hotel in an attempt to contact Taskin, who later arrived at the venue. The coach, Chandika Hathurusingha, decided not to include Taskin in the playing XI for the match against India.
The decision not to play Taskin shocked fans and experts alike, as Bangladesh only went with Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mustafizur Rahman as their fast bowlers for the game. Despite Taskin’s late arrival, Hathurusingha did not reveal any reasons for his exclusion from the playing XI. He clarified that if there were any issues between him and a player, it would not affect that player’s participation in future matches against Afghanistan.
