Target Announces Companywide Implementation of GenAI Technology for Store Team Members

Target has recently introduced an innovative AI-powered chatbot called Store Companion to assist team members and enhance the shopping experience for customers. By August, hundreds of thousands of Target team members in nearly 2,000 stores will have access to this new tool.

Store Companion serves as a personal assistant for team members, providing answers to questions, assisting in training new employees, and supporting store operations to make tasks more efficient. Team members can use a handheld device to get help with signing up a guest for a Target Circle Card or restarting a cash register within seconds.

In addition to helping team members, Target is using AI to improve its digital services for customers as well. The enhanced product pages and smart search features on Target.com make it easier for customers to find what they need. For example, searching for “summer party” will display a selection of relevant items, from party supplies to snacks.
