Switzerland’s Roman Josi: The Defenseman Driving Their IIHF World Championship Success So Far

Roman Josi, a defenseman from Switzerland and currently competing at the IIHF World Championship, has been instrumental in his country’s success so far. The Swiss team, who have never won a gold medal at the tournament, have made it to the semifinal round where they will face Canada.

Josi has been a standout performer throughout the tournament, leading all tournament players in points with 11 (three goals, eight assists) and is tied for the team lead in overall points. As a defenseman, he has been crucial to Switzerland’s seven wins in eight games.

Former Predators forwards Kevin Fiala and Nino Niederreiter have also contributed to Switzerland’s success. Fiala, now with the Los Angeles Kings, has scored 11 points (six goals, five assists) in eight games, while Niederreiter, currently with the Winnipeg Jets, has contributed six points (two goals, four assists) during the tournament.
