Switzerland Starts Strong in First Group A Match Against Hungary, Defeating Them 2-1

Hungary bounces back against Switzerland with much-improved performance in LIVE match

In the first round of Group A fixtures, Switzerland faced Hungary in Cologne. Both sides were eager to start the tournament on a positive note. Switzerland took an early lead over Hungary, with Kwadwo Duah scoring the latest goal for the Swiss team after just 12 minutes. The goal was initially ruled offside but was later overturned by VAR, giving Duah his first competitive start for Switzerland.

Hungary had their chances to equalize, with Willi Orban missing a free header and Péter Gulácsi being tested multiple times. However, Hungary struggled to find momentum and fell behind by two goals at halftime when Michel Aebsicher curled in his first international goal.

In the second half, Hungary began better but still lacked quality as they squandered set pieces and saw Gulácsi tested again. However, Hungary did manage to claw back a goal when Barnabas Varga headed wide before redeeming himself with a stooping header that brought them back into the game. Despite their late rally, Hungary failed to overcome Switzerland’s dominance in possession and ended up losing 2-1 at full-time.
