Survey Unveils Vast Variations in Electricity Transfer Fees among Major Companies in Finland

Omakotiliitto, a small house residents’ interest organization, conducted a survey on electricity transfer fees and found significant differences between companies. The basic fee for the transfer ranged from EUR 4.70 at the cheapest to EUR 40.66 at the most expensive per month, with Järvi-Suomen Energia charging the most expensive fee followed by Kajave and Koorevesi Sähkö.

On the other hand, Kerava Energy offered the cheapest basic fee for electricity transfer, with Tampereen Energia Sähköverkola and Haukiputaa Sähkoosuuskunnta offering slightly higher rates. When comparing energy fees for electricity transmission, the kilowatt-hour price ranged from 1.69 cents at Rovakaira to 6.75 cents at Enontekiö Sähkö.

The survey also revealed that almost half of the companies had increased their prices since last year while two companies lowered them and 37 kept it unchanged. The Energy Agency implemented a new supervision model last year to regulate electricity transmission prices, which faced opposition from many transmission companies.

Chairman of Home association, Ari Rehnfors expressed his union’s desire for more drastic measures to lower electricity transfer prices and ensure fair control in the market after finding out about these differences in charges through their research conducted by Omakotiliitto KTI Kiinteistötieto.
