A group of frustrated business owners in Davie have taken matters into their own hands by installing a surveillance camera after their mail kept getting stolen. The video footage captured a bold thief behind a mailbox at the Town Commerce Center off State Road 441, systematically searching through each cubby while using an envelope to cover his face.

One of the victims, Adrian Talpos from Absolute Roofing, shared that the thief had stolen a check from their mailbox, forged it with a random name, and successfully cashed it, resulting in a significant financial loss. The surveillance footage indicated that the thief likely possessed a U.S. Postal Service master key, raising concerns about the increasing accessibility of these keys to fraudulent individuals.

Postal Service investigators were notified of the incident and were actively working on the case. To prevent such incidents, residents and business owners are advised by the U.S. Postal Service to promptly retrieve their mail after delivery to minimize the risk of theft. It is also recommended to inquire promptly about any overdue mail, particularly if it involves credit cards or checks.
