Surprising Roster Move: Steelers Cut Undrafted RB Alfonzo Graham from Depth Chart

Steelers release running back Alfonzo Graham

The Steelers made a roster move on Thursday, cutting running back Alfonzo Graham from their 90-man roster. This was an unexpected move, as Graham had been signed as an undrafted free agent from Morgan State last year and had missed the entire season due to a torn labrum he suffered early in training camp.

With this move, the Steelers now have four running backs on their depth chart. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren are returning as the top two backs from last season, and they added Cordarrelle Patterson as a free agent last month. Aaron Shampklin, who signed a future contract in January, completes the group.

It is unclear why the Steelers decided to cut Graham at this point in the offseason, but it is likely that his injury history played a role in their decision. The team will now need to find another running back to fill out their roster for training camp, either through a draft pick or a free agent signing.
