Surprising Disparities in Cancer and Diabetes Prevalence Across Israel: New Study Reveals

According to recent research, the smoking rate among women aged 16-74 in Israel is approximately 13.6%. The highest rates of smoking are found in Safed, with 18.7%, followed by Tel Aviv, Beer Sheva, Ashkelon, and Haifa, where over 16% of women smoke. However, areas such as Judea and Samaria and Acre have lower rates of smoking at just 10%. Even in Jerusalem, the number of female smokers is relatively low at 10.7%. On the other hand, nearly 30% of men aged 16-74 smoke in Israel.

In terms of cancer screening, about 71.8% of women undergo mammograms for early detection of breast cancer in Israel. However, rates are lower in cities like Jerusalem, Safed, and the Golan. Additionally, only about half of women in Israel undergo a Pap smear for cervical cancer detection. Higher rates are seen in cities like Rehovot and Tel Aviv.
