Taylor Swift has released a deluxe edition of her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” just two hours after the standard release on Friday night. The surprise edition includes 15 extra songs, four of which were previously teased as vinyl exclusives.
The standard version of the album features 16 tracks that were announced back in February. However, Swift’s surprise deluxe edition is titled “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” and features a total of 31 songs. All the additional tracks were written by Swift and co-produced with Jack Antonoff or Aaron Dessner, except for “I Look in People’s Windows,” which was co-produced by Antonoff, Swift, and Patrik Berger.
Swift has a history of surprising her fans with sudden releases, as seen in 2022 when she dropped an extended version of “Midnights” known as the “3am Edition” in the early hours of the morning. This time, however, the release came with little warning and shocked many Swifties online.
Swift’s economic power has been on full display in recent months, with her ongoing Eras Tour and concert movie helping her become the first musician to reach billionaire status purely through music and performances. Her success has allowed her to flex her influence, as seen when Singapore paid nearly $3 million per show to secure exclusivity for the Southeast Asian leg of her tour.
Both versions of “The Tortured Poets Department” are available for streaming on all major platforms, giving fans the chance to enjoy Swift’s latest musical offerings at their leisure.
