Childish Gambino recently surprised fans with the release of a new album, followed by the announcement of a world tour that includes a show in Pittsburgh. The tour, titled The New World, will take place at PPG Paints Arena on Aug. 20. The new album, “Atavista,” is described by Gambino as the finished version of “3.15.20” and features new song titles as well as a previously unheard song, “Little Foot Big Foot,” along with a new video.
Gambino’s previous Pittsburgh show was on June 18, 2012, during his Camp tour. Joining Gambino on tour will be Willow, daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, who recently released her own album “Empathogen.” Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday on ticketmaster.com, with presales for American Express cardholders starting Wednesday and presales through Gambino, AEG, and PPG Paints Arena launching Thursday.
In an Instagram statement, Gambino hinted at another new album arriving this summer. Mike Palm, a TribLive digital producer who writes music reviews and features is a Westmoreland County native who joined the Trib in 2001
