New CEO Appointed by World Surf League

Ryan Crosby, the current president of publishing at Riot Games, has been appointed as the new CEO of the World Surf League effective May 13th. Crosby, who previously worked at Activision, Netflix, and Hulu before joining Riot in 2021, will be responsible for growing the league’s digital presence, marketing surfing stars, and capitalizing on the spotlight the sport will receive this summer with the upcoming Olympics in Tahiti.

In a statement, Crosby expressed his excitement about the new role, highlighting surfing as more than just a competitive sport but also a way of life. He aims to elevate the WSL brand, strengthen the connection with fans, and create something that surfers can be proud of. Crosby will also be involved in managing the retirement of five-time world champion Carissa Moore, the potential departure of Kelly Slater, and supporting current champion Filipe Toledo as he takes a mental health break from competition.
