Supporting Victims of Violence: A Family Assistance Center Opens in Rochester Hills

Oakland County brings mental health resources to Rochester Hills

In the aftermath of a mass shooting that injured nine people at a splash pad in Rochester Hills, a Family Assistance Center has been set up to provide mental health support to affected families. The center, a joint effort by Oakland County and Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN), will now be located at the Rochester Community Schools Administration Building on Dequindre Road. Counselors will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 7 p.m. for victims, their families, and others impacted by the violence.

Since its opening, the center has seen 37 individuals seeking services. In addition to the in-person support provided at the center, OCHN will also have a mental health resource table at the Festival of the Hills on June 26 at Borden Park. This table will offer community resources, although not on-site counseling on the day of the event.

For those who are unable to visit the Family Assistance Center, a helpline is available by calling (800) 848-5533 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Oakland County’s Nurse on Call can provide information about mental health resources
