Supporting Mental Health: Grandparents Raising Grandchildren in the Borderland Region Gather for Free Seminar

Molina Healthcare organizes mental health event for seniors in Socorro

Grandparents raising grandchildren in the Borderland region will have the opportunity to focus on their own mental health during a free seminar happening on Thursday in Socorro. The event, titled Embracing Mental Health in Aging, is being hosted by the Grandparents Social Club, a division of Molina Healthcare of Texas, along with the Rio Vista Community Center.

The seminar will provide information on health-related topics and offer free blood pressure and glucose screenings. Attendees will also have the chance to connect with other grandparents who are experiencing similar situations, creating a supportive community for those raising their grandchildren. In addition to the educational aspect of the event, there will be a painting activity and light refreshments for all attendees to enjoy.

This event aims to provide Borderland seniors with resources and support to help them navigate the unique challenges of raising grandchildren in their later years. Embracing Mental Health in Aging will take place at the Rio Vista Community Center on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The center is located at 901 N. Rio Vista Rd. in Socorro.
