Super-G Races at World Cup Finals Canceled Due to Elevated Temperatures and Rain Predictions

World Cup finals cancel downhill training to preserve slope ahead of speed races

The super-G races at the World Cup finals in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria were canceled on Thursday due to elevated temperatures and the prediction of more rain. This was announced after both men’s and women’s downhill trainings proceeded as planned on Wednesday. However, the decision was made to cancel the trainings on Thursday in order to protect the slope before the upcoming speed races.

The cancellation has put a lot of excitement for the upcoming races that will mark the end of the season. There are two super-G races scheduled for Friday, with Lara Gut-Behrami leading by 69 points in the standings, ahead of Sofia Goggia and Stephanie Venier. Marco Odermatt also holds a strong lead in both super-G and downhill standings with an 81-point advantage over his closest competitor and a 42-point lead over his teammate.

The focus is now on these upcoming races, with championships and standings on the line. The competition promises to be intense as skiers vie for top honors in their respective disciplines.
