Super Bowl Contributor Malik Herring Officially Returns to the Kansas City Chiefs

Chiefs bring back DL Malik Herring with new contract

The Chiefs have officially re-signed defensive lineman Malik Herring, after tendering him as an exclusive rights free agent early in the offseason. This move has solidified his return to the Chiefs roster, preventing him from negotiating with other teams. Despite the news of his official return not being confirmed until Thursday, as reported in the NFL’s daily transaction report.

Herring initially signed with the Chiefs after going undrafted in 2021. He made his regular season debut in 2022 and played in seven games before returning for seven more games last season. Additionally, Herring played in all four of the team’s playoff games, contributing to their Super Bowl LVIII win. In his 18 total appearances, Herring has accumulated 20 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Overall, Herring’s performance on the field has been a valuable asset for the Chiefs, with his contributions playing a role in the team’s success. As he continues to develop and grow as a player, his re-signing with the Chiefs signifies a commitment to his potential impact on the team in the upcoming seasons.
