Summer Transfer Window Preparations in the Scottish Football League: A Closer Look at Celtic, Rangers and Other Teams

Celtic edging closer to securing Amartey – Latest transfer rumors

As the Scottish football season draws to a close, several teams are already making plans for the summer transfer window. Celtic are reportedly planning to make a fresh bid for Besiktas’ Ghanaian midfielder Daniel Amartey, who previously played under Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City. Meanwhile, Rangers manager Philippe Clement is facing an injury crisis ahead of the Scottish Cup final, with up to nine first-team players potentially sidelined.

Aberdeen is looking into potential goalkeeping targets for the summer, including Robby McCrorie and Hakon Valdimarsson. The club has also expressed interest in signing Matt O’Riley from England after the Scottish Cup final, which may mark his last game for Celtic. Rodgers has disclosed his interest in signing Europa League final hat-trick hero Ademola Lookman for Celtic in 2016 but was unable to do so due to financial constraints.

Hibernian is considering a bid from a French club for striker Elie Youan, which could amount to £2m plus add-ons. St Johnstone is on the verge of a takeover by Adam Webb, with approval from the English Football League expected in the coming month. Aberdeen is in talks with midfielder Jamie McGrath regarding a new contract. David Gray is being tipped as a potential replacement for Nick Montgomery as Hibs manager by former striker Tam McManus.

Rodgers believes that Anthony Ralston could be a strong option for Scotland in defense, even in the absence of Aaron Hickey and Nathan Patterson. Ipswich captain Sam Morsy has been seen wearing a Celtic top during a post-season training session in Dubai, hinting at possible future transfers between the two clubs.
