Student Protest: Universities Condemn Israel’s Ongoing War on Gaza

Protesting Students at Sciences Po in Paris Block Campus in Opposition to Israel’s Gaza Conflict

Students at the prestigious Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) in Paris took to the streets to protest Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza. They demanded that the institution condemn Israel’s actions and joined a wave of similar demonstrations on college campuses across the United States.

Wearing Palestinian flags and keffiyeh headscarves, the students chanted their support for Palestinians as they blocked access to the university. Many expressed hope that the protests in America and Australia would inspire similar actions in France, highlighting the role of academia in speaking out against injustice.

Hicham, a 22-year-old master’s student in human rights and humanitarian studies at Sciences Po, emphasized the importance of universities condemning Israel’s actions. Zoe, a 20-year-old master’s student in public administration, echoed this sentiment and underscored the students’ determination to continue protesting until peace is restored in Gaza.

Despite their efforts, Sciences Po officials remained silent on the situation. Reports suggested that police had removed a group of students who had blocked access to the university on Wednesday night, leading to criticism from left-wing politicians who supported their cause.
