Strategic Alliance Between Kaman and Textron Systems to Develop Next-Generation Medium-Lift UAV

Kaman and Textron Systems have recently formed a strategic alliance agreement to collaborate on opportunities and critical technologies for Kaman’s Kargo UAV. This partnership will help the team maintain pace as they move towards productionizing and scaling the Kargo UAV, according to Romin Dasmalchi, general manager of Kargo UAV.

Dasmalchi expressed excitement about the agreement, stating that collaborating with Textron Systems, a team with a deep bench of knowledge and experience, is a great opportunity. He noted that Textron Systems brings valuable knowledge, technical expertise, and insights on safety and airworthiness to the partnership.

Wayne Prender, senior vice president of Air Systems at Textron Systems, also emphasized the benefits of the collaboration. He mentioned that by working with Kaman, Textron Systems can build on their extensive experience in UAS and expand their capability set. He expressed eagerness to support the critical capability that Kaman is bringing with their Kargo UAV.

The Kargo UAV is a purpose-built, medium-lift UAS that is designed to meet the needs of a global market. With the combined capabilities of Textron Systems and Kaman, this UAS will be accessible to customers in both commercial and defense markets worldwide. The collaboration between the two companies aims to enhance the capabilities and reach of the Kargo UAV for customers across the globe.

Textron Systems has over 30 years of experience in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), making them an ideal partner for this strategic alliance agreement. Their expertise in safety and airworthiness will be particularly valuable as they work together to bring this new medium-lift UAS to market.

Kaman’s general manager stated that he was excited about this partnership because it would allow his team to leverage Textron System’s deep bench of knowledge and experience in developing critical technologies for their purpose-built medium-lift UAV.

The collaboration between these two companies will bring together some of the best minds in unmanned aircraft technology to develop new solutions that will benefit customers worldwide.
