Helsinki Stock Exchange starts Thursday on a downward trend as Nokia sells ASN business to France

On a sunny Thursday, the Helsinki Stock Exchange opened with a slight decrease of 0.3 percent, with the general index standing at 9912.98 points. Initially, the most traded stocks were moving downwards as the stock market day began. At around ten o’clock in the morning, Nokia was the most traded, with its shares down by approximately 0.2 percent. Nokia had recently signed a put option agreement with the French government for ASN, worth 350 million euros. The company will retain a 20 percent ownership stake in ASN and hold representation on the board for an agreed period to ensure a smooth transition.

ASN is a leader in data transfer capacity and the number of installed base stations, with over 750,000 km of optical submarine cables globally. Meanwhile, airline Finnair saw the biggest gain at the opening, up by 0.5 percent, while Terveysteknologiyahtiö Optomed experienced the largest decline, with a decrease of 4.8 percent. Optomed announced a directed share issue, issuing 150,000 new shares at a subscription price of EUR 5.25, expected gross proceeds of approximately EUR 7.9 million.

Fortum’s Chief Transformation Officer Bernhard Günther will be leaving the company at the end of this year by mutual agreement after implementing changes in line with Fortum’s Nordic strategy focused on clean energy since March 2023 and establishing temporary functions to support it and lead efficiency and competence development under his leadership resulted in no need for a separate Transformation Office anymore leading to his departure
