During the ‘Growth Objective 2024’ event organized by Il Sole 24 Ore, Minister Adolfo Urso stated that the goal set for CEO Tavares last year to reach the production of 1 million vehicles in the shortest possible time is shared by Stellantis as a whole. He emphasized that the gap between cars produced, approximately 450,000, and cars registered, 1.5 million per year, is a significant issue unique to Italy and needs to be addressed.
Urso explained that this disparity in production and registration numbers is an Italian anomaly that must be eliminated. He highlighted that if Stellantis can fulfill its commitment to produce a million vehicles in a timeframe shorter than 2030, which is considered too long, it could help reduce the gap, but it wouldn’t completely solve the issue. Ultimately, Urso emphasized that it is Stellantis’ responsibility to reassure Italy about achieving this goal, rather than Italy having to reassure the company.
