Stealing Millions: Brandon Delane Looney’s Plea Brings Accountability to Trinidad ISD

Trinidad ISD Funds Embezzled by Business Manager for Lavish Disney Spending Spree

Brandon Delane Looney, a resident of Orange, Texas, has pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing money from the Trinidad Independent School District. Between 2017 and 2023, he embezzled over $300,000 while serving as the business manager for Trinidad ISD. Looney used the money for personal expenses such as trips to Walt Disney World and shopping sprees at The Disney Store.

As a result of his actions, Looney faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a potential fine. However, the actual sentencing will be determined by the court based on relevant guidelines and factors. Following his guilty plea, Looney has been working with the Financial Litigation Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office to sell his assets and preserve funds for restitution to Trinidad ISD. He has already sold his house in Vidor and other assets, securing over $200,000 for this purpose. The full restitution amount will be collectible for 20 years after Looney’s release from incarceration.

Despite his cooperation in liquidating assets, Looney will still be held accountable for his actions and required to make amends to the school district he defrauded. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled once a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office is completed. KLTV holds the copyright to this information.
