Closed City sports fields mean that all City leased fields, including City school fields, are off limits during the specified time frame. Using the fields when they are closed is strictly prohibited. Permitted leagues found using a closed field may face fines or loss of field usage for the season. Unpermitted users will receive a warning or citation if caught on a closed field.
Interested parties can now sign up for email or text alerts for field closures on the City’s website. Simply click on “View All” under press releases on the main page, then click on “Notify Me” on the right side. You can add your email address and select which groups you want to receive messages from, as well as specify if you prefer email, phone alerts, or both. Information about field closures can be found on the City’s website at www.cityoffrederick.com or by calling the public information line at 301-600-6970, option 3. Closures are typically posted by 2 pm on weekdays and 8 am on weekends.
