St. Louis University has appointed Jackson Nickerson, a former Washington University professor, as the new dean of its business school. Nickerson will take up his position on July 1st and bring with him an extensive academic background in leadership and strategy. He succeeds Barnali Gupta, who has been in the role since 2021.

In the early 2000s, Nickerson was involved in a project studying management practices at pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, which resulted in policy changes at the Food and Drug Administration.

Nickerson joined Washington University’s business school as an assistant professor in 1996 and later served as associate dean and director of Brookings Executive Education from 2009 to 2017. Over the course of his career, he has published six books and more than 85 journal articles and case studies. This experience positions him well to lead the business school at St. Louis University and contribute to the academic community in the region.

Nickerson expressed his excitement and honor at the opportunity to serve the Chaifetz School of Business and the St. Louis region, where he has lived for the past 22 years.

The recruitment of Nickerson is expected to bring fresh perspectives and ideas to St. Louis University’s business school, further enhancing its reputation as a leading institution for business education in the region.

In conclusion, St. Louis University officials have announced that Jackson Nickerson will be joining their faculty as dean of their business school starting July 1st
