Spurs’ Search for Attacking Reinforcement: Can They Secure Gudmundsson or Look Elsewhere?

Tottenham’s pursuit of Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson hindered by setback

Spurs had a great start to the 2023/24 season under manager Ange Postecoglou. However, injuries to key players like James Maddison and Micky van de Ven led to a drop in form towards the end of the season, causing them to miss out on a spot in the Champions League for the following season. Despite this disappointment, Postecoglou is focused on strengthening the squad for another top-four challenge next season.

Spurs have extended the loan of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner for another campaign and are now looking to make another signing. According to Corriere dello Sport, they have made contact with Genoa over Icelandic striker Gudmundsson. However, Gudmundsson reportedly prefers to stay in Serie A rather than move to the Premier League this summer.

Despite this challenge, Spurs are still determined to secure Gudmundsson’s signature as he had a successful season with Genoa, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in 37 games across all competitions. Inter Milan is also said to be interested in the striker, which could make it difficult for Spurs to secure his signature.

As a result, Spurs may need to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcement as they continue their pursuit of Champions League glory next season.
