The streets of Downtown Springfield, including Main Street, will be closed for the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast on May 18. On May 17 at 10 a.m., barricades will be placed at Main Street intersections at Bridge Street and State Street, with traffic allowed to cross from Boland Way to Harrison Avenue and travel down Court Street to City Hall Place and back to East Columbus Avenue. “No parking” signs will be posted and enforced starting on May 16.
On May 18, Main Street from State Street to Bridge Street, Boland Way, Harrison Avenue, Court Street, and City Hall Place will close to traffic from 4 a.m. until around 3 p.m., when the event will reopen after being served by the Spirit of Springfield with the help of hundreds of volunteers. The event is sponsored by MGM Springfield and features pancakes, bacon, coffee, juice, milk, and water for $3 for adults and $1 for children. John Doleva, President of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, will serve as the event’s Honorary Chair.
