As a member of the UN Women Media Compact, Springer Nature has formalized its commitment to gender equity. The company already has a 50/50 gender split on its management board and 44% of its global leadership are women. This partnership aligns with Springer Nature’s broader efforts to support and promote women in research and science.

The collaboration with UN Women will complement their existing initiatives to advance gender issues and empower women in the field of science. In September, they will host a virtual conference titled “Breaking Barriers for Gender and Health Equity Through Research.” Additionally, their annual Inspiring Women in Science Awards in October will focus on publishing more papers by women researchers.

One in four Springer Nature employees are engaged in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As part of their commitment to these goals, they are also dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion both internally and through their publications and activities. Jessica Gedamu, Vice President of Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Springer Nature emphasized the company’s dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Springer Nature aims to drive positive change through its partnership with UN Women and continued focus on gender representation and empowerment. By leveraging their global reach and influence, they are taking concrete steps towards a more diverse and inclusive future.
