Sports Tourism Boost: Rapid City Hosts 10 Youth Sports Tournaments this Month, Generating $9 Million in Economic Impact

Rapid City is excited to host a series of sports events this month, thanks to the efforts of the Rapid City Sports Commission. The city will play host to 10 different youth sports tournaments, which are expected to bring in approximately $9 million for the local economy. With around 8,000 athletes, along with their families and friends, participating in these tournaments, there will be plenty of excitement in the air.

Domico Rodriguez, Executive Director of the Sports Commission, believes that hosting these events is perfect timing. It coincides with the tourism season in Rapid City and provides an opportunity to showcase the city’s sports facilities to athletes who can compete closer to home. Rodriguez sees this as a win-win situation for the community, athletes and local organizations involved in hosting the tournaments.

One of the highlights of these events is the recently completed Sioux Park. This state-of-the-art facility will provide athletes with an excellent playing surface and top-notch amenities. The park’s location makes it easily accessible to participants and spectators alike.

The sporting events scheduled for this month include baseball, softball and soccer tournaments such as BHR Scheels Rushmore Cup, Jim Scull Tournament and Rushmore Shootout Baseball Tournament. These events offer a chance for Rapid City to highlight new or improved sporting facilities while also promoting sports tourism in the city. With so much talent on display, it’s sure to be an exciting time for everyone involved.
