Spain’s Coach Luis de la Fuente Secures Contract Extension until 2026 for His Successful Tenure

De la Fuente renews contract as head coach of Spain

Spain’s coach, Luis de la Fuente, has signed a contract extension with the men’s national team until 2026. The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) made the announcement on Tuesday, praising his success since taking over the national team. De la Fuente took over from Luis Enrique in December 2022 following Spain’s elimination from the World Cup.

Under de la Fuente’s guidance, Spain won the Nations League title last year and qualified for this summer’s European Championships in Germany. Since then, he has had significant achievements including winning the Nations League and qualifying for Euro 2024. Spain is set to face Croatia in their opening game of Euro 2024 after playing pre-tournament friendlies against Andorra and Northern Ireland.

The RFEF confirmed the renewal of de la Fuente’s contract and coaching staff, citing his success as a reason for the extension. With this new contract, de la Fuente’s tenure as coach will extend to the 2026 World Cup, where he hopes to lead Spain to victory once again.
