South African Aerial Photographer Sets New Record with Custom-Built High-Speed Quadcopter

Quadcopter Sets New Guinness World Record for Fastest Speed

In the world of drone racing, one man has just set a new record for the fastest battery-powered RC quadcopter. Luke Bell, an aerial videographer and photographer from Cape Town, South Africa, has surpassed the previous record with his custom-made quadcopter named Peregreen. The drone clocked in at an average speed of 247 mph over 100 m in both directions, beating the previous record of 224 mph.

The build process for Bell’s new quadcopter was filled with technical issues and fires, leading to flight instability. This prompted a complete redesign of the drone, followed by numerous aero tests and a successful fire-free test flight. The final build of the Peregreen 2 includes a carbon-fiber frame, 3D-printed outer shell/tail, APC 7x11E props, T-Motor Velox 3115 900KV motors, APD 120A 12S ESCs, two 1,800-mAh LiPo battery packs, a Matek F405-HDTE flight controller
