Danny Stutsman and Billy Bowman named Athlon Sports preseason All-Americans

Oklahoma Sooners linebacker Danny Stutsman has received preseason honors from Athlon Sports, earning a first-team selection at linebacker for the 2024 All-America Team. Safety Billy Bowman was also recognized, making the third team.

Stutsman made the decision to return for another season of college football after initially considering entering the 2024 NFL Draft. His announcement was met with excitement from Sooner fans as he will play a crucial role as a veteran leader for head coach Brent Venables in their transition to the SEC.

As a junior, Stutsman accumulated 104 total tackles and 16 tackles for loss, earning recognition from the Associated Press and being named to the All-Big 12 First Team in 2023. Bowman, another key player for Oklahoma’s defense, will have the opportunity to continue improving ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

Former Sooner Dillon Gabriel was named the second-team quarterback for Oregon after transferring from Oklahoma. Gabriel made the decision to leave due to concerns about the program. With the 2024 season approaching, all eyes will be on these current and former OU players as they strive to meet high expectations on both sides of state lines.
