Yankees delay game start against Marlins due to solar eclipse

The solar eclipse on Monday has caused some changes to the start times of games for both the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians. Due to potential in-game delays caused by the eclipse, the Yankees postponed their game against the Marlins from 2:05 p.m. to 6:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium. The eclipse will be visible across Mexico, 15 U.S. states, and parts of southeastern Canada, with most states experiencing a partial eclipse like New York.

Similarly, the Cleveland Guardians had already rescheduled their home opener to start at 5:10 p.m. ET in anticipation of the solar eclipse, an hour later than traditional start times. Pitcher Tristan McKenzie expressed excitement about the event and noted the unique experience of not being allowed on the field during the eclipse.

Both Yankee Stadium and Progressive Field will open gates early for fans to observe the solar eclipse before the games start. The first pitch for both games will take place after the effects of the eclipse are no longer noticeable in each location. The next total solar eclipse visible across
