Overnight, a burglar wreaked havoc on three small businesses in Eagle Rock, leaving local business owners fearing for their safety as law enforcement works to catch the culprit. First, the thief broke into Cheebo restaurant on Colorado Boulevard around 4 a.m. Sunday and made a beeline for the cash register before fleeing the scene in under a minute.
George Tripodakis, the general manager of Cheebo, expressed concern over how the burglar seemed to know exactly where to find the cash register. Tripodakis suspects that the same culprit also targeted nearby Loop Espresso Club and Chateau Lemongrass, as one of the nearby business owners received an alarm call shortly after the burglary.
Resident Michael Nogueira noticed a pattern in the burglaries, mentioning that they tended to occur during bad weather. Nogueira expressed regret that these crimes had to affect small, local businesses rather than larger corporations. The investigation into the burglaries is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast station at 323-561-3211.
