The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest begins with Day 1

The Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is set to kick off on Wednesday, with a lineup of exciting events. Starting at 5 p.m., attendees can witness the thrilling Barbecue Sauce Wrestling, followed by the Lighting of the Grill ceremony at 5:30 p.m. The contest will run from Wednesday, June 15 to Sunday, June 18, attracting teams from more than 22 states and five countries.

Known as the ‘Super Bowl of Swine,’ this competition is widely regarded as the Most Prestigious Barbecue Contest, with teams vying for top honors. The festival has been relocated from Tom Lee Park to Liberty Park this year, in anticipation of drawing thousands of visitors. Attendees can enjoy delicious barbecue from various vendors including the Kingsford Tour of Champions, BBQ Alley featuring Big Green Egg & Friends, and four renowned barbecue restaurants.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online for $25 or in-person for the same price. Single-day tickets are also available for $15.
