Six Top-Performing K-6th Grade Educators Recognized for Excelence in STEAM Education: PAEMST Finalists Showcase Innovative Teaching Techniques and Inspire Students across Maryland

Public School Teachers in the County Excel in Teaching Math and Science – Conduit Street

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has unveiled the six finalists for the 2024 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for K-6th grade. Among the counties that have earned top spots are Washington County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Baltimore County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, and Howard County Public Schools.

Dr. Carey M. Wright, Interim State Superintendent of Schools expressed his admiration for the state’s finalists saying, “I am honored to recognize Maryland’s six finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.” He further stated that these educators embody the ideals of innovation, dedication, and excellence in their work with STEAM education.

Established in 1983, PAEMST is a prestigious honor bestowed by the US government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics and computer science teaching. These awards recognize teachers who have both deep content knowledge of the subjects they teach as well as the ability to inspire and empower students to succeed in those areas.
