Six Israelis Complete Circumcision at Haifa’s Rambam Hospital, Marking Resumption of Jewish Conversion Operations after Long Hiatus

Six Ethiopian Community Members in Israel Complete Conversion Process Through Circumcision

Six Israelis from the Ethiopian community completed their conversion to Judaism by undergoing circumcision (Brit Mila) at Haifa’s Rambam Hospital after months of waiting. The ceremony was organized with the cooperation of the state conversion system under the Ministry of the Head of Government, the Ministry of Health, and the Budget Allocation Department under the Ministry of Finance.

On Tuesday, six members of the Ethiopian community underwent circumcision one after the other at Rambam Hospital, accompanied by Professor Aaron Hofman from the Department of Circulatory and Transplant Surgery. Professor Hoffman is a licensed mohel, a specialist in circumcision services recognized by official organizations in Israel.

The resumption of circumcision operations will allow dozens of men who have undergone conversion to complete the procedure officially and receive the relevant documents. This comes after a long hiatus associated with various factors, including the War of the Iron Swords.

Srugim reported on Wednesday, March 27 that six individuals who arrived in Israel several years ago decided to officially convert to Judaism. The participants in the ceremony ranged in age from 14 to 54 years old, and it is expected that dozens more similar operations will take place in the coming weeks for other graduates of the conversion system.
