Six Impressive High School Athletes Nominated for The Courier Journal’s Girls Athlete of the Week Award

Cast Your Vote for High School Player of the Week in the Louisville Area

This week, The Courier Journal has selected six impressive high school athletes as nominees for their girls athlete of the week award. Voting is currently open and will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner being announced on Friday.

Grace Bethel from Male High School made waves in track and field by running the second-fastest 200 meters time in the state this season, clocking in at an impressive 24.35 seconds at the Metro Meet of Champions.

Ellie Beam, a sophomore from Kentucky Country Day, played a key role in her team’s victory over Eastern, scoring five goals and contributing three assists to help secure KCD’s third Kentucky Scholastic Lacrosse League title and marking their 10th championship in history.

Brooke Bennett from North Oldham had a standout softball game against Marion County, hitting three home runs and driving in five RBIs to help her team secure a 13-6 victory.

Mabel George of Assumption High School set a personal record by winning the 800 meters at the Metro Meet of Champions with a time of 2 minutes, 14.79 seconds.

Freshman Sadie Hayes from Sacred Heart had an outstanding week, contributing five hits and seven RBIs to help her team secure a 1-1 record.
