Aston Villa’s Northern Ireland striker, Simone Magill, will be leaving the Women’s Super League side as her contract expires. Despite sustaining an ACL injury at Euro 2022 before even playing for Aston Villa, Magill’s professionalism and dedication impressed head of women’s football at Villa, Lee Billiard. He commended her for her hard work and positive attitude in overcoming the injury and making a strong comeback.
Magill, 29, had joined Aston Villa from Everton in the summer of 2022 and had played in 21 matches for the club. Although she had to delay her debut until May 2023 due to the ACL injury she suffered while playing for Northern Ireland, Magill left a lasting impression on everyone who worked with her at Aston Villa. Her legacy of hard work and determination on the field will be remembered by fans and teammates alike.
In addition to being a valuable asset to Aston Villa’s women’s football team, Magill has also been an inspiration to many young players in Northern Ireland. She has scored 25 goals in 85 Northern Ireland caps since her debut in 2010, and has become one of the most respected players in the country’s history.
