Simone Biles Wins Record-Ninth National All-Around Title in Gymnastics, Prepares for Third Olympic Appearance

Simone Biles clinches record 9th all-around title at U.S. championships in preparation for Paris Olympics.

Simone Biles has once again shown her dominance in gymnastics by winning her ninth national all-around title at the U.S. championships in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday night. Biles shone by capturing the gold medal on all four apparatuses, marking an impressive and near-perfect performance as she prepares for her third Olympic appearance later this summer in Paris.

Despite a slip on the vault that resulted in a small deduction and her first fall of the season, Biles finished with an impressive total score of 119.750. This victory secured her a spot in the U.S. Olympic Trials, making her the first gymnast, man or woman, to achieve nine all-around national titles. Last year, Biles broke the record with her eighth win, also becoming the oldest woman to do so.

Following her success at the U.S. Classic last month, where she claimed the all-around title, Biles once again demonstrated her exceptional skills at the U.S. championships. Skye Blakely earned second place, with a score of 113.850, narrowly overtaking Kayla DiCello in third place with a score of 110.800. Shilese Jones was absent due to a shoulder injury, while Jones and Kaliya Lincoln were granted permission to compete in the Olympic Trials.

After leading Team USA to victory at the World Gymnastics Championships last fall and being named The Associated Press’ Female Athlete of the Year in 2023, Biles is focused on her preparations for the upcoming Olympics.

Biles’ success at the U.S championships has been nothing short of impressive as she continues to demonstrate why she is one of the best gymnasts in history.

With qualifying rounds scheduled to begin on June 27 in Minneapolis ahead of Paris Games’ opening ceremony later this summer; Biles is determined to continue showcasing her talent and secure another Olympic gold medal.
