Shock and Frustration: Clark County Business Owners Struggle to Survive Amidst Recurring Issues

Business owners in Clark County report that fire incident is just one of many safety concerns they have been facing.

Clark County authorities have deemed seven businesses in the strip mall off Tropicana and Pecos unsafe after a fire in the electrical panel on Saturday afternoon. The fire caused significant damage to the businesses, including damage to electrical equipment and other property. Some of the affected businesses have been without power partially or entirely since the weekend, causing uncertainty about when repairs will be completed.

Business owners Jonny Galvez of Familia Tattoo and Joey Scolaro of Lucino’s Pizza are among those who have been affected by the closure. They are worried about the impact of the closure on their livelihoods and express frustration with the lack of response and action from Colliers Property Management, which manages the shopping center. Scolaro had to discard a significant amount of food and products due to the lack of power, while Galvez is concerned about ongoing security issues that have caused disruptions to their operations.

The official cause of the fire is not yet confirmed by the Clark County Fire Department, but multiple shop owners suspect that homeless individuals near utility boxes could be responsible for starting it. This latest incident has only added to their concerns about safety and security in the area. Despite raising these concerns with property management, shop owners feel that their concerns have not been adequately addressed.

Galvez and Scolaro are just two examples of business owners who have experienced recurring issues with their properties in recent years. These problems include building issues, plumbing problems, and now electrical issues that have caused significant disruptions to their operations. Efforts to improve security measures have been met with limited success, worsening the situation for business owners like Galvez and Scolaro who hope to see their businesses thrive in this competitive marketplace.
