Shining a Light on Mental Health Awareness: Honolulu’s Green Illumination during Mental Health Month 2024

Honolulu Hale Illuminated in Green for Mental Health Awareness Month

As part of Mental Health Month 2024, Mayor Rick Blangiardi has instructed Honolulu Hale to be illuminated in green from sunset on May 13 to sunrise on May 17. This gesture symbolizes the importance of mental health awareness and support within the community.

The Hawaii State Department of Health is spearheading the Mental Health Month campaign, which aims to spark conversations about the significance of maintaining good mental health. The initiative focuses on equipping individuals with tools to manage stress, navigate difficult emotions, and address challenging situations effectively.

In collaboration with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division, Adult Mental Health Division, and various community partners, the state is working together to educate and advocate for mental health improvement. These efforts extend to fostering a supportive environment for individuals, their friends, and family members, as well as empowering communities to prioritize mental well-being.

By shining a green light on mental health awareness, Honolulu stands as a beacon of hope and encouragement for individuals to prioritize their mental health, seek support, and engage in conversations that promote mental wellness.
