Shasta County Health and Human Services Permanently Closes Office Due to Safety Concerns

Downtown Redding office of Shasta County Health closes

In response to safety concerns, the Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) has decided to permanently close one of its eligibility services offices. The office, located in downtown Redding, was shut down on June 10 due to the lack of enough exits in case of an emergency, making it unsafe for staff and clients.

Kimberly Ross, the HHSA spokesperson, stated that the closure was necessary due to the safety risk at the office. Amy Koslosky, another HHSA spokesperson, explained that the agency only leased part of the building at 1220 Sacramento St., which limited their access to all the exits in the location.

The agency has relocated the 23 employees working at the Sacramento Street office to other HHSA locations in Redding. They are currently looking for a new downtown location that will be more secure for both staff and clients. In the meantime, clients can visit other HHSA offices in Shasta County, including locations in south Redding, the Enterprise area, Anderson, Shasta Lake, and Burney.
