Senator Young Tours IU Tech Park and Discovers Cutting-Edge AI Innovation

Senator Young tours the Indiana University Technology Park

Last week, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) visited Indiana University (IU) Technology Park and met with IU students and faculty to learn more about the advancements in technology and research happening at the university. During the tour, IU Associate Vice President for Research Technologies, Matthew Link, showed Senator Young the physical hardware components that make up artificial intelligence compute.

The visit began with a look at IU’s I-Light program, a high-speed fiber optic network connecting research and education communities across the state. Senator Young was then taken to IU’s Data Center, where he saw Big Red 200, a supercomputer supporting advanced research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics. The senator was able to witness firsthand the cutting-edge technology being utilized at IU to drive innovation and discovery.

The tour concluded with project updates from students and faculty in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Senator Young expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to see the AI innovation and research happening at Indiana University firsthand. He praised the contributions that students and faculty are making to the state’s leadership in AI and other emerging technologies. Overall, Senator Young found it a valuable opportunity to see firsthand the groundbreaking work being done at IU.
