Capito initiates construction of health department

As the Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS), U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) played a key role in securing funding for the new Hardy County Health Department facility in Moorefield. The project is set to include a Food Service Training Facility and will cater to the expanding needs of the growing community by providing enhanced medical services and educational opportunities.

Capito emphasized the importance of collaboration across federal, state, and local levels to address the health, food service, and educational needs of the residents in Hardy County. She expressed her pride in contributing to the project and highlighted the positive impact it will have on the community.

In May 2023, Senator Capito secured a $474,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Grant Program to help fund the construction of the new health facility in Moorefield. This funding plays a crucial role in moving the project forward and ensuring that the health department can meet the growing demands of the community in Hardy County.
