Senator Blackburn’s Ongoing Efforts to Support Small Businesses and Address Supply Chain Challenges in Tennessee

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee Discusses Jobs and Economy

Senator Blackburn has been a vocal supporter of small businesses in Tennessee, which make up over 99% of the state’s businesses. She has introduced legislation to reduce government regulation and support these businesses by giving back to local communities. Her focus has been on measures such as lowering IRS fees and proposing cuts to federal spending in non-defense, non-homeland security, and non-veterans affairs discretionary spending.

Senator Blackburn has also taken steps to protect small businesses from excessive user fees through her introduction of the IRS User Fee Reduction Act. She has been a vocal opponent of the IRS receiving $80 billion in funding from the Biden administration’s “Inflation Reduction Act” to hire 87,000 IRS agents, which she believes could lead to increased taxes on hardworking individuals and businesses.

Apart from her efforts to support small businesses, Senator Blackburn has also focused on addressing supply chain challenges that have had a significant impact on the economy since the global supply chain crisis began in 2021. In early 2023, she introduced the bipartisan Securing Semiconductor Supply Chains Act, which aims to enhance federal efforts to increase domestic manufacturing of semiconductor chips by collaborating with federal agencies and state organizations. Through these initiatives, Senator Blackburn is working to promote robust economic growth and support American businesses.
