Over the past week, a search for a missing six-year-old boy named Arian has been underway in Germany. Arian, who has autism and is non-verbal, disappeared from his parents’ home on Monday. Despite the efforts of over 1,200 volunteers and police officers on horses, drones and sonar technology have not yielded any new leads.
On Sunday, volunteers formed a coordinated human chain that was 1,500 meters long with about 800 people systematically searching every corner of the area. However, footprints initially thought to belong to Arian turned out to be from other individuals, leading the search in a different direction. The operational strategy of the search was coordinated with an autism expert to aid in finding Arian.
The search teams are working tirelessly to find Arian, with emergency services combing the area between Elmo and Oldendorf. There is no evidence of foul play or a wolf attack according to police statements. Various tactics such as playing music and setting off fireworks have been implemented in an attempt to locate Arian in the hopes that he will come out of hiding.
Garbage collection was canceled on Friday so that volunteers could inspect bins, and searchlights were installed in the area to provide light throughout the night. The search efforts continue with hopes high that Arian will be found safe and sound.
