Seahawks Defense Set to Thrive with Aden Durde as Defensive Coordinator

Seahawks’ Defensive Coordinator Aden Durde Discusses Rotating Defensive Line Strategy

Under new head coach Mike Macdonald, the Seattle Seahawks are determined to improve their defensive capabilities this season. While the offensive line has been a liability for the team, the defensive line is expected to be a strong asset. Macdonald will initially call the defensive plays himself, but he plans to hand over those duties to his defensive coordinator, Aden Durde.

Durde, who previously coached the defensive line for the Dallas Cowboys, is known for rotating and moving his players around to maximize their abilities. In Seattle, he has a number of versatile and powerful players to work with on the defensive line. Durde emphasizes the importance of understanding each player’s strengths and fitting them into the overall defensive strategy.

During OTAs, Durde mentioned that he believes it’s essential to create a strategy that enhances each player’s abilities in different situations. Players like Leonard Williams and rookie Byron Murphy II are expected to start at defensive end, with Jarran Reed at nose tackle. Johnathan Hankins will provide depth at nose tackle, while Myles Adams and Mike Morris will back up Williams and Murphy.

While there is no finalized depth chart yet, fans are eagerly anticipating how Durde’s defensive line strategy will play out during the upcoming season. With potential for a more cohesive and effective defensive line, the Seahawks hope to improve their overall defense in 2024.
